The idea of Maharani begins in the year of 1959 in Allahabad. It was an idea to chase perfection in a teacup. What was once a humble loose tea seller shop called “Darjeeling Tea Company” quickly became one of the largest selling tea brands under the firm “Ramesh Tea Traders”
Today Maharani enjoys the loyalty of millions of tea enthusiasts who value us for providing premium taste without the premium price tag, We can’t compete on ad spends, because we would rather invest in making our product better. That’s at the core of brand Maharani. Our product first approach stems from the years of hard work put in by our tea tasters who continuously strive to create new blends and perfect older ones. And this is perfectly summed up in every cup that has Maharani in it.
In 1959, a career oriented young boy from a small town near Jalpaiguri named Dumchipara came to Allahabad with an idea that would revolutionize the tea industry of the region.He decided to sell chai in loose form instead of the branded packets that the consumers were already used to. Overcoming great difficulty and adversity he created a niche in the market and established Darjeeling Tea Company.
The boy was our founder, Late Sh. Omkar Mal Bansal. And his small tea shop at Swami Vivekanand Marg was the cornerstone of his legacy. His successors furthered this legacy with a Partnership Firm called Ramesh Tea Traders which would go on to launch Maharani Chai. A brand of tea that is not just a household name but a household essential in every section of the society.

Mr Ramesh Bansal is one of the state’s most respected and reputed CEOs, known for his relentless track record of success, enormous love from people, fierce passion for business, and unbridled desire towards problem solving. In his 44 year tenure as the founder of the renowned Tea Brand of the city ‘Maharani Chai’ , Mr Bansal has transformed the brand Maharani into the state’s most admired and successful beverage with his innovative management techniques along with his consistency in quality control. He has also helped many other budding entrepreneurs tobuild a solid base for their business.
One of the many reasons why he is loved and admired by everyone in the tea business fraternity. His passion for tea has seen him write a book which explains and clarifies all the things related to tea, helping many businessmen understand the intricacies of the tea industry.
At 65, Mr R. Bansal has only continues to be relentless in his business. He actively participates in decision making towards the growth of the firm and a constant inspiration to his successors and employees to reach the never ending high of a business.

From In to Out of the Unit. His team of skilled and unskilled labourers, staff and associates ensure the smooth processing of the plant. Unloading of Teas to Blending to Packaging.
